EDUCATION

Examining undergraduate student James Ibrahim with the thesis title: IN VITRO ANALYSIS OF COMPOUNDS IN KECOMBRANG (Etlingera elatior), JAHE (Zingiber officinale), AND KUNYIT (Curcuma domestica) AS CANDIDATES FOR THE TREATMENT OF ACUTE CORONARY SYNDROME.

Co-promoter of doctoral student Greesty Finotory Swandiny with dissertation title: Search for Bioactive Compounds Based on Ethnopharmacological Studies in Gunung Sari Village, Bogor, West Java Using the Dipeptidyl Peptidase-IV Inhibition Method: In-Vitro Studies, Toxicity Tests, and In-Vivo Studies on Zebrafish (Danio rerio).

Delivering guest lectures and conducting community service activities.

RESEARCH

Prof. Dr. M. Taher Bin Bakhtiar

His research interest is in drug discovery involving extraction, isolation, characterization and bioactivity study of natural products from plants. His current research is on wound healing, anti-cancer, anti-obesity and anti-diabetes study of several medicinal plants using animal cell culture. He has published several papers in reputable journals and has contributed chapters in books.


Prof  Elizabeth Pisani
Infectious disease epidemiologist now focusing on medicine policy and data systems United Kingdom

British-American epidemiologist, public health consultant, author, and journalist. He is an academic researcher and director of Ternyata Ltd., a public health consultancy based in London, England. His research investigates the influence of politics, economics, and culture on public health. This includes substandard and counterfeit medicines and HIV.

Prof. Elizabeth Pisani has focused on HIV for more than a decade, conducting research and working as an advisor to the Ministries of Health of China, Indonesia, East Timor and the Philippines, and to organizations such as UNAIDS, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Bank, and the World Health Organization. Her work focuses on HIV, sexually transmitted infections, and sexual and drug use behaviors, and building disease surveillance systems.


Prof. Taifo Mahmud
College of Pharmacy, Oregon State University, USA

Prof. Taifo Mahmud focuses on the discovery and development of natural product-based medicines. His group applies a multidisciplinary approach that utilizes cutting-edge technology to produce new medicines. Some of his group’s recent achievements include discovering a new family of enzymes and developing antimalarial, anticancer, and sunscreen drugs through genetic engineering or synthetic biology.
