UNIVERSITY Pancasila (UP) held a teacher gathering from the Guidance and Counseling Teachers’ Consultation (MGBK) for SMA/SMK levels throughout Jabodetabek at the Faculty of Economics and Business, UP campus, Jakarta, Tuesday (2/8).

Also present to give a speech at the gathering, namely the Chancellor of UP Prof. Dr. Edie Toet Hendratno S.H. M.Si. FCBArb., Head of New Student Admissions for the 2022/2023 Academic Year Prof. Dr. Sri Widyastuti S.E. M.M. M.Si, and the Chief Executive of the Gathering Dra. Hj. Dewi Trirahayu, M.M.

The gathering was also filled with a BK Teacher Workshop featuring Dr. (Cand) Aryo Seno Wicaksono, S.Kom., M.M., CH., CHt., CHC., MCHC CI with the theme “Neuro-Linguistic Programming-Based Persuasive Communication Techniques (NLP) for Counseling Guidance.

Head of MGBK SMA/SMK DKI Jakarta Dra. Ester Damanik., M.Psi., M.Pd., Kons., explained that NLP-Based Persuasive Communication Techniques for Guidance Counseling is very important for teachers to know student competencies.

Moreover, with the presence of an independent learning curriculum from the Ministry of Education and Culture, BK teachers need to know the competence of students so that students are helped when continuing their studies in higher education.

“The task of the BK teacher is to direct students. Usually in grade 10, students will be given all subjects,” he explained.

“After grade 10, they can choose subjects that they like and are fun. Here, there is the role of the BK teacher to direct students to choose suitable subjects to study,” said Ester.

For example, a student likes and wants to major in medicine while in college. Thus, the BK teacher directs students to master the lessons of chemistry, biology, and mathematics, and it is also possible to study sociology, because it is related to human relations.

Interested in business, can lead students to study economics, mathematics, and sociology because they have to deal with humans every day.

“By mastering NLP, teachers can find out the general needs of children and become basic knowledge for teachers to motivate students and direct them,” he concluded.

Chief Executive of the Gathering Dra. Hj. Dewi Trirahayu, M.M., explained that the gathering was held to establish a relationship between UP and MGBK teachers throughout Jabodetabek that had existed for 13 years.

“There were around 100 MGBK teachers from 100 SMA/SMK schools throughout Greater Jakarta who attended. Through this gathering, we also hope that MGBK teachers can contribute to the admission of new students at UP,” he explained.

At the end of the event, UP appreciated the best contributing schools, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) of cooperation between UP and MGBK, explained the promotion program (UP scholarships), and visited MGBK teachers to faculties at Pancasila University.

When receiving the BK teachers’ arrival at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Pancasila University, they were greeted with a lively peacock dance by BESI students (Pharmacy Art Workshop). Then the Dean of FFUP along with the leadership and staff gave a warm welcome and at the same time introduced the profile of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Pancasila. [dl]
