On Monday (2/6), the Faculty of Pharmacy of Pancasila University once again held an International Guest Lecture as part of its ongoing commitment to provide excellent and international pharmaceutical education. The event, which took place in the 2nd floor meeting room of the Faculty of Pharmacy, raised a very relevant and visionary theme in the modern pharmaceutical world, namely “Nanotechnology Applications in Delivering Herbal Drugs and Natural Compounds for Better Effectiveness”. This topic is an important highlight in the development of future herbal drug formulations, especially in improving effectiveness and bioavailability through a nanotechnology approach.
The keynote speaker was Prof. Yashwant V. Pathak, M.Pharm, Executive MBA, MSCM, Ph.D., a Professor and Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, College of Pharmacy, University of South Florida, USA. In his lecture session, Prof. Pathak shared in-depth insights on the utilization of nanotechnology in the efficient and targeted delivery of herbal medicines and natural compounds.
In his presentation, he emphasized the importance of collaboration between modern science and the potential of natural resources owned by tropical countries such as Indonesia. “With nanotechnology, we can maximize the potential of active compounds from natural ingredients to provide stronger and more targeted therapeutic effects,” he said to the enthusiasm of the participants.
Acara ini dihadiri oleh sejumlah dosen Fakultas Farmasi Universitas Pancasila serta mahasiswa Pascasarjana (S2 dan S3) Farmasi, yang turut aktif dalam sesi diskusi dan tanya jawab.
Not only presenting the Guest Lecture, this activity was also part of a series of FFUP programs, including the Forum Group Discussion (FGD) of FFUP lecturers and students as well as the implementation of Community Service and Research and Society Service held by the Doctor of Pharmaceutical Science Study Program with PT Herba Salam, Bekasi. Through these PKM activities, the Doctor of Pharmacy Science Study Program and PT Herba Salam explored the potential for cooperation in research and development of herbal-based products with the latest technological approaches, especially nanotechnology.
This activity is also in line with Pancasila University’s commitment to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular:
- SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, through the development of innovative solutions in the field of herbal-based health that are more effective and safer.
- SDG 4: Quality Education, through the implementation of quality higher education, with a global outlook, and based on cutting-edge research.
- SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, through synergy between universities and industry in the development of technology-based pharmaceutical products.
