The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Pancasila once again held an open session for doctoral promotion in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences on Wednesday (22/1). This time, apt. Nur Aji, M.Farm. successfully defended her dissertation entitled “Antibacterial and Antibiofilm Active Fraction of Zingiber officinale, Zingiber montanum, and Zingiber zerumbet Rhizomes with Topical Nanoparticle Delivery System against Propionibacterium acnes.”
The open session was held in the 2nd floor meeting room of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Pancasila University and was attended by academics, students, and invited guests. This activity was led by Prof. Dr. apt. Syamsudin, M.Biomed. who acted as Chairman of the Session.
Research conducted by apt. Nur Aji revealed the potential of active fractions from three types of ginger rhizomes in inhibiting the growth and biofilm formation of Propionibacterium acnes, the main cause of acne. With an innovative approach in the form of a topical nanoparticle delivery system, this research is expected to contribute to the development of a more effective and natural-based acne therapy.
In this trial, apt. Nur Aji was accompanied by a promoter team consisting of:
Promoter Team:
- Prof. Dr. apt. Shirly Kumala, M.Biomed. (Fakultas Farmasi Universitas Pancasila)
Co-promotor:
- Prof. Dr. apt. Esti Mumpuni, M.Farm. (Fakultas Farmasi Universitas Pancasila)
- Prof. Dr. rer. nat. apt. Deni Rahmat, M.Si. (Fakultas Farmasi Universitas Pancasila)
In addition, this exam also involves a team of examiners consisting of leading academics in the field of pharmacy:
Examiner Team:
- Prof. Dr. apt. Effionora Anwar, MS. (Fakultas Farmasi Universitas Pancasila)
- Dr. apt. Liliek Nurhidayati, M.Si. (Fakultas Farmasi Universitas Pancasila)
- Dr. apt. Yati Sumiyati, M.Kes. (Fakultas Farmasi Universitas Pancasila)
- Prof. Dr. apt. Elly Wahyudin, DEA. (Fakultas Farmasi Universitas Hasanuddin)
The session took place with an in-depth scientific discussion, where the examiners asked various questions and input related to the research methodology, findings, and clinical implications. With strong and data-based arguments, apt. Nur Aji was able to answer every question well, thus successfully defending his dissertation.
The success of apt. Nur Aji in achieving this doctoral degree is proof of the contribution of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Pancasila in developing innovative research based on natural ingredients for medical needs. It is hoped that the results of this research can be a reference in the development of safer and more effective acne therapy.
Congratulations to Dr. apt. Nur Aji, M.Farm. for her achievement as Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universitas Pancasila.
