The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Pancasila (FFUP) conducted a Community Service (PKM) activity initiated by FFUP lecturers Reise Manninda, Nurita Andayani, and Sondang Khairani. This activity also involved five FFUP students as part of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program through an Independent Project, focusing on waste management education through the 3R concept (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle).

The PKM was held at MI Avia Scientific, Jalan Mandor No. 1, Pondok Jaya Village, Cipayung District, Depok City, West Java, involving students and teachers of the school.

MI Avia Scientific’s Operational Director, Rakhmatullah, said that this activity is in line with the “Clean Madrasah” program, which aims to foster environmental awareness and concern from an early age.

This activity is expected to provide children with an understanding of the importance of maintaining cleanliness, managing waste properly, and cultivating environmentally friendly behavior in their daily lives,” he said.

Educational materials were delivered by Supardo and Masditya, who explained the importance of wise waste management and the application of the 3R method in everyday life. Participants were encouraged to understand how waste reduction can begin with simple steps, such as avoiding single-use items, reusing items that are still usable, and recycling waste into useful products.

Following the presentation, the students participated in a hands-on activity, sorting organic and inorganic waste they had brought from home. Through this activity, it is hoped that students will not only understand the theory but also be able to apply waste management concepts in their daily lives.

The collected organic waste is then used to make compost, as a concrete example of how household waste can be processed into useful and economically valuable products.

“We, the Universitas Pancasila PKM team, would like to express our gratitude for the excellent cooperation from MI Avia Scientific. Through this activity, we hope students can become agents of change in maintaining environmental cleanliness and contributing to sustainable waste management,” said Reise Manninda, representing the FFUP teaching team.

As a concrete form of support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this activity contributes to SDGs 12: Responsible Consumption and Production and SDGs 13: Addressing Climate Change. Through education and simple practices, FFUP strives to instill sustainability values from an early age so that the younger generation can grow into environmentally conscious individuals and play an active role in protecting the earth for a better future.
